my Amiga 500+ Photos ;)

February 16th, 2007 by Quatrux

Here, you can find some of my Amiga 500+ photos, I thought to put them online, due to I don’t know where to put them until the Q-Zone website doesn’t work, so this Blog is just perfect.. The Amiga itself seems to be quite dirty, but what do you want, it was developed in the year ~1992 and it went through a fire in a house and still works, it was my first Amiga computer, even though it is a “better” version of the Amiga500 which was developed much earlier, usually it is called Amiga500+ or Amiga500plus, or just plain old way A500+, A500plus and etc. Call whatever you want.. It has a Motorola 68000 CPU/Microprocessor running at 7.09 MHz (PAL) / 7.16 MHz (NTSC), like its predecessor, 1 MB of RAM, but I have an Expansion Card and had total of 4 MB of RAM on the machine, also the Expansion Card could be used to have a SCSI Hard Drive, but it never worked for me, but I had two disk drives, with small floppies and big black floppies. As this upgrade had Kickstart 2.04 (v37.175) I was able to use Workbench 37.67 (release 2.04) without any problems and really had several disks of perfect Workbench+DOpus appliactions all using the XPK and PPLoad Sequence, oh those were the DAYS! I played a lot of games, good games, because it has an ECS graphics chipset, capable of showing 4096 colours.. I also used it to program in Basic, used the Blitz Basic! Enjoy!

Autocad 2006

February 16th, 2007 by Quatrux

I had my first lectures on Autocad, thought that using Autocad sucks, but with time and a little experience I really found Autocad a nice program and now I have some understanding about drawing/draughtsmanship which will be useful for me as I am studying in a Technical University, even though it is Informatics/Information Technologies! I always liked 2D, but still with time will need to draw different things with 3D environment, even though I am not going to become somekind of a pro, but to know the basic stuff is very good. ;)

Angry Nintendo Nerd

February 16th, 2007 by Quatrux

I saw this guy on his site, my friend gave me a link and I am really happy that on my free time I watched his videos, due to I am also a retro gamer and like to play with some emulators and even on my real still working Amiga1200! This guy was very good, I laughed a lot, especially at the beginning, due to I was watching his videos from his first one, to the last one.. His comments were good about those games and his look/appearance and speech also was funny, especially the beer thing ;D All I can say, is that only two games he commented wasn’t as bad as he told, to much swearing on them, I used to play Top Gun and I really like it, especially the multiplayer mode and all I can say that it was easy for me to land on the ship and finish those missions! Furthermore, Double Dragon III, I finished that game on NES with my friend in multiplayer mode, it was hard, but it was a good game, he also was swearing to much on it, it didn’t deserve so much comments. But Anyway, still it was COOL! ;)

You can find the videos and watch yourself here, due to the Angry Nerd is going to get you to :D

Google search vs Wikipedia

February 4th, 2007 by Quatrux

Well, I noticed that I am searching Wikipedia much more often now than Google for information and I see rather good links to different pages from the subject I am looking into in wikipedia page.. So I believe I am not the only one, due to usually my search string from google gives a link to wikipedia which I usually know has the information I want to and maybe even links to other good websites about that subject or my search string.. But of course, some things doesn’t exist in wikipedia, which can exist on search engines, but for some time I also noticed that Google when made that page rank technology, the first websites in the search are very stupid and similar stuff, I need to go through until the 3 page to find what I want to, so I used to like google before much more, even though a lot of whom were using the keywords of the websites by cheating and stuff.. Well, that is just my thought for Today. ;)

Gaim is working Again

February 1st, 2007 by Quatrux

Well, the Windows version of Gaim 1.x for me didn’t work very well, a lot of problems with connecting to different messengers like MSN, Yahoo, Jabber, AIM/ICQ and of course IRC.. I thought that my passwords were wrong or something or accounts expired, but when I tried other messengers like Miranda or Trillian, everything worked, but they really sucked, I didn’t like the User Interface and available options, so I dumped them and didn’t sit online on those Messengers at all except IRC using compiled XChat from source code on Windows and also spent my time on Skype and some Web portals.. I also tried the official MSN and AIM, Yahoo messengers, but they sucked even more, I don’t understand how people can use those at all!!!! Now after Gaim 2.x Beta6 was released I can sit online again and I am really happy to use Gaim again.. As I understand, soon Gaim 2 will be final.. ;)

Want to start learning C++ or C?

January 30th, 2007 by Quatrux

Well, I now can write programs in C++, but that isn’t anything special at all without the extra stuff like DirectX or OpenGL for games and of course something like a user interface, think I in the future will start to play with QT, but I want to become a bit bigger master to control Cpp, due to now I am only a beginner.. I know a lot of other languages and a lot of basic stuff, so learning C++ was really easy. I am using the Open source IDE called Dev-C++, you can easily find it on google and if you’re using standard C++ or C stuff, then you won’t have any compiling issues.. Some people I know are using the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, it is more resource hungry, but is much more powerful and I don’t think I need any power, therefore it is enough for me to play around.. I started to learn it myself for the University, but still, my favourite hobby will be PHP with MySQL and HTML/CSS/JS/XML with the AJAX technology, due to it is in my blood.. but things might change.. So I found to websites, with which you can easily learn Cpp, a very good tutorial/tutorials and more resources are on this site: Cpp programming In fact, only using that site you can become a master, but of course only with practical work.. and a very good reference, which I found to be easy and simple and user friendly is here: Cpp Reference With these two websites you can easily learn these languages.. So just wanted to share. ;)

Started to learn C++ again

January 27th, 2007 by Quatrux

Well, again I started to learn C++ a little bit to remember the basic stuff, due to I heard that in my second semester in the university we will start to learn it.. but I didn’t do with it anything for about two years and I almost forgot the structure, but it is almost the same as other syntax languages I know, for example php, even though I always preferred simple c, but anyway.. I hope my c++ compiler isn’t outdated and I found some really good tutorials, because I don’t think I will need anything very advanced. ;)

DMA reverts to PIO

January 23rd, 2007 by Quatrux

Well on my Windows XP installation, I noticed that everything got slow when loading, thought somekind of an virus or spyware.. I was amazed that my computer got slow, it never happened before, because I really take good care of it.. When thought it was the new windows updates, but I uninstalled them and nope, everything was the same.. I scanned with different tools for spyware and viruses and other critical stuff, but also didn’t find anything.. Somehow my brother said it might be that my Hard Drive is reseted to PIO transfer mode, I checked and Yeah it was! This is why my system got very slow, because it wasn’t using DMA transfer mode, even though my CD-roms were using Ultra DMA somekind of mode..

I booted to BIOS, but everything was set alright and when I searched the Internet for Information and I found a solution which worked for me very well and would like to share it with you. It requires a little Registry Edition, so go to Run, and run regedit tool, when search for the registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

which has subkeys like 0000, 0001, 0002, and remove the MasterIdDataChecksum or/and SlaveIdDataChecksum, don’t worry nothing will happen after you remove those.. Then reboot your computer and you’ll be back reseted to DMA transfer mode if you would like to check, use the Device manager.. But note, that stupid Windows can reset you to PIO mode anytime, so don’t be amazed if this happens again. ;)

Cleaning Up my Data

August 17th, 2006 by Quatrux

For some days now I am cleaning up my HDD data and sorting everything nicely, I am going to reinstall my system and I really mean it, will going to use Windows 2003 Server and Arch Linux, for that I will need to redesign my Hard Disk Drive Partitions and reformat everything. My data will be placed to CDs and of course to my brothers HDDs.. The best software for Windows which I use takes up 2.22 GB, I mean the Installers for Software/Programs which I have the latest versions.. Open Source and Free Software.. You almost can use Windows and a lot of Software legally these days.. Almost :D I just hope everything is going to be simple and clean. ;)
