As we know, Safari is a browser for MacOS, a lot call it the best browser, it is using the rendering engine called Webkit, which in fact is an edited version of the well known KHTML engine, which is mainly used by a Linux browser Konqueror.
Anyway, I downloaded Safari for Windows, it is still in public beta, but seem to work and is opening most of the sites quite normally, webkit is continued to be ported to Windows.. what I hate about apple software is the GUI, MacOS GUI really doesn’t look good on Windows, I never liked it, that is why I hate Quick Time!
So in my opinion, Swift, if it continues to develop, is a much better alternative to conquer browser market on Windows! Even though it is using .NET and C# which I don’t really like, due to it is slow, much faster on Windows Vista though.. but Anyway, what Windows KHTML/Webkit browser needs is a Browser created with C++ and QT using Webkit engine, maybe then the shitty and shit source gecko engine Firefox will suck and fanboys of Firefox will need to disappear and become fanboys of something else, like masturbation kit 5 in 1 just for you FF fanboy. Anyway, you can download it:
Download Safari for Windows
and for Swift browser, which is using .NET and Webkit: Download Swift

I wrote to the author of this software, which now is commercial, but doesn’t cost a lot a feature I want to see in PHP Designer, because without it, it really annoyed me and I was searching for alternative PHP IDE and was unhappy, due to most of those free ones sucked and others were costing to much.. So in the version of 5.3.2 in the changelog I saw my wanted feature.. Before that it could open last opened file or no files or all recent opened files, but it sucked, I wanted to open all the files which were opened before I closed the program, so it now does it and all I can say is that PHP Designer 2007 is one of the best IDE for PHP!

Just noticed that a new non beta version of the Opera browser was released, so I upgraded from 9.10 to 9.20, even though there aren’t a lot of changes, but the changlog says that there are some minor changes, even I don’t care about them such as start bar disabled now by default, it was always annoying me ;] they also added support for GIF animations in skins.. Now more interesting changes: CSS height:inherit now inherits the computed value, scripts in framesets now execute onload and applets inserted with innerHTML can now be called by JavaScript! I still didn’t get into it, but there is somekind of Introduction of developer tools. Moreover, some other security and stability fixes and similar, you can read the full changelog for Opera 9.20

Even though this is quite old news, only Today I found time to post about it, the popular open source multi-protocol instant messaging client Gaim was renamed to Pidgin and now can be found on a new address: http://www.pidgin.im and im doesn’t stand for Instant Messenger, in fact it is a country address/code, the same is with .tv and .cc and .fm even though the .fm usually looks something like a radio for use, .tv something associated with TV
Anyway, the Gaim in the beginning were called GTK+ AOL Instant Messenger, at that time there were no AIM, but AOL didn’t like it, so they just called it Gaim and everything was fine, but recently, AOL didn’t like Gaim as it is similar to AIM and the name is still a short version of GTK+ AOL IM = GAIM, so after all those trademark stuff and lawsuits, Gaim was officially renamed to Pidgin, a word which really won’t bring any lawsuit.. And it was announced that the version 2.0.0 of this software will come soon, so Pidgin/Gaim will be really much better in my opinion, I quite got used to the new name after a week
Remember when people disliked the names Phoenix, Firebird, Firefox, Mozilla, but now everyone is used to Firefox, so I think the name change won’t really affect the great IM client..

When IE7 appeared for Windows XP, a lot of whom installed it and wanted to test their pages with IE6? Yeah, the same for me, but once I found this software package called Multiple IE, it has a simple and working msi installer and with time most of the IE problems running on one system got solved, the dll files and similar.. So using this software, you can run different versions of Internet Explorer on your Windows installation, no need to go to a friend and test your page ;D It includes IE5, IE6 and it is best to install it when you have already installed IE7.. of course it also includes IE4 and IE3, but I don’t think these browsers matter very much, when I am talking about IE5, I talk about 5.01 and 5.5
I found it very comfortable for a web designer, also I know that there is a similar project on Linux, a batch script or something which installs the same stuff on wine, for a designer to use! Anyone want to create a package, where you can have Opera6, Opera7 and Opera8? Well, most now browse with Opera9 and some still with Opera8
and as I know, everyone updates their Firefox

Well, I am waiting for Today evening and don’t have an idea what to do, so I thought to post a screenshot of my Desktop, as I am currently booted to Windows, I will only make Windows XP screenshot
Today: 2007 Feb 17, Saturday!

As you can see, I am using Winamp with the Abuse skin, which I find quite nice, due to the modern skins is a little bit slow on my system, I think because of the Graphics Card I have, also my video player is VLC media player and etc. I am to tired to write this bullshit

Well, the Windows version of Gaim 1.x for me didn’t work very well, a lot of problems with connecting to different messengers like MSN, Yahoo, Jabber, AIM/ICQ and of course IRC.. I thought that my passwords were wrong or something or accounts expired, but when I tried other messengers like Miranda or Trillian, everything worked, but they really sucked, I didn’t like the User Interface and available options, so I dumped them and didn’t sit online on those Messengers at all except IRC using compiled XChat from source code on Windows and also spent my time on Skype and some Web portals.. I also tried the official MSN and AIM, Yahoo messengers, but they sucked even more, I don’t understand how people can use those at all!!!! Now after Gaim 2.x Beta6 was released I can sit online again and I am really happy to use Gaim again.. As I understand, soon Gaim 2 will be final..

Well on my Windows XP installation, I noticed that everything got slow when loading, thought somekind of an virus or spyware.. I was amazed that my computer got slow, it never happened before, because I really take good care of it.. When thought it was the new windows updates, but I uninstalled them and nope, everything was the same.. I scanned with different tools for spyware and viruses and other critical stuff, but also didn’t find anything.. Somehow my brother said it might be that my Hard Drive is reseted to PIO transfer mode, I checked and Yeah it was! This is why my system got very slow, because it wasn’t using DMA transfer mode, even though my CD-roms were using Ultra DMA somekind of mode..
I booted to BIOS, but everything was set alright and when I searched the Internet for Information and I found a solution which worked for me very well and would like to share it with you. It requires a little Registry Edition, so go to Run, and run regedit tool, when search for the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
which has subkeys like 0000, 0001, 0002, and remove the MasterIdDataChecksum or/and SlaveIdDataChecksum, don’t worry nothing will happen after you remove those.. Then reboot your computer and you’ll be back reseted to DMA transfer mode if you would like to check, use the Device manager.. But note, that stupid Windows can reset you to PIO mode anytime, so don’t be amazed if this happens again.
